Transfers Overview

Esta página aún no está disponible en tu idioma.

Transfers help you move inventory between different fulfillment locations. When one location runs low on stock while another has extra, you can create a transfer to rebalance inventory across your warehouse network.

This keeps your products available where customers need them most and helps you fulfill orders faster.

Inventory Transfers let you move stock between your fulfillment locations to balance supply, cut shipping costs, and position inventory where demand is highest. Every transfer is tracked from creation through receiving with full quantity visibility — in transit and received — at each location.

Balance Stock Levels

Move products from overstocked locations to ones running low. Keep inventory where it’s needed most.

Reduce Shipping Costs

Ship orders from locations closer to customers. Save on shipping costs and deliver faster.

Track Inventory Movement

See exactly which products are in transit between locations. Know when inventory will arrive.

Prevent Stockouts

Move stock proactively before a location runs out. Keep all locations stocked and ready to ship.

The Transfers page shows all your inventory movements between locations:

The transfers table displays:

  • Items - The number of different products (SKUs) in the transfer
  • Qty Received - How many units have been received at the destination
  • Qty In Transit - How many units are still on the way

You can customize which columns appear by clicking the Columns button.

Use the filter dropdown (funnel icon) to:

  • View transfers by status
  • Filter by date range
  • Search by product or location
  • Save frequently-used filters

The All badge shows you’re viewing all transfers (no active filters).

Click the Actions button in the top right to:

  • Create Transfer - Start a new transfer between locations
  1. Select Source Location

Choose which fulfillment location has the inventory you want to move. This is where the products currently are.

  2. Select Destination Location

Pick where you want to send the inventory. This location will receive the products.

  3. Add Products

Select which SKUs to transfer and how many units of each. You can only transfer inventory that’s available at the source location.

  4. Create Transfer

Save the transfer to create it. The inventory status changes to “In Transit” and is removed from the source location’s available stock.

  5. Receive Inventory

When the products arrive at the destination, mark them as received. The inventory becomes available at the new location.

Each transfer shows its current status:

  • In Transit - Products are moving between locations
  • Partially Received - Some items arrived, others still in transit
  • Completed - All items received at destination
  • Cancelled - Transfer was cancelled before completion

Products that are:

  • On their way to the destination
  • Not available for sale yet
  • Removed from source location inventory
  • Will be added to destination when received

Products that have:

  • Arrived at the destination location
  • Been marked as received
  • Added to destination’s available inventory
  • Ready to fulfill orders

Seasonal Rebalancing

Move extra inventory to locations with higher seasonal demand. Stock up beach locations in summer, for example.

New Location Setup

Transfer initial stock to a newly opened fulfillment location. Get the new location operational quickly.

Consolidating Stock

Close or reduce inventory at one location by transferring everything to another. Centralize operations when needed.

Emergency Restocking

Quickly move products to a location that’s about to run out. Prevent stockouts and keep orders flowing.

Plan Ahead

Create transfers before locations run out. Factor in transit time so inventory arrives when needed.

Check Available Stock

Verify the source location has enough inventory before creating a transfer. You can’t transfer more than you have.

Track Transit Times

Know how long transfers usually take between locations. Use this to plan future transfers better.

Receive Promptly

Mark items as received as soon as they arrive. This updates your inventory counts accurately.

Use Filters

Save custom filters for transfers you check often. View by location pair, date range, or status quickly.

Monitor In Transit

Keep an eye on products in transit. Follow up if transfers take longer than expected.

Problem: The create transfer option isn’t working.

Solutions:

  • Make sure you have at least two fulfillment locations set up
  • Check that you have products with available inventory
  • Verify your user role has permission to create transfers

Problem: Created a transfer but inventory counts haven’t changed.

Solutions:

  • Transfers remove inventory from the source immediately upon creation
  • Destination inventory updates only when you mark items as received
  • Check the transfer status to see if it’s still in transit

Problem: The quantities in your transfer don’t match what you expected.

Solutions:

  • Verify you entered the correct quantities when creating the transfer
  • Check if the transfer was partially received (some items arrived, others didn’t)
  • Look at the transfer details to see the original requested quantities

Problem: You need to cancel a transfer that’s already created.

Solutions:

  • Contact your system administrator about cancellation options
  • If items haven’t shipped yet, they may be able to cancel it
  • If items are in transit, you may need to transfer them back after arrival
