### 3PL

**Third-Party Logistics.** An external company that handles warehousing, picking, packing, and shipping on behalf of an eCommerce seller. OmniOrders supports 3PL workflows with multi-tenant inventory and automated order routing.

### API

**Application Programming Interface.** A set of rules that allows different software applications to communicate. OmniOrders provides a robust REST API for custom integrations with storefronts, ERPs, and custom mobile apps.

### ASN

**Advanced Shipping Notice.** An electronic document sent by a supplier before a shipment arrives, listing the contents, quantities, and expected delivery date. Helps warehouses prepare for inbound receiving and cross-docking.

### B2B

**Business to Business.** A commerce model where a business sells products or services to another business (e.g., wholesale). OmniOrders supports B2B workflows with custom pricing tiers and bulk order management.

### B2C

**Business to Consumer.** The traditional retail model where a business sells directly to individual consumers.

### Backorder

An order placed for a product that is currently out of stock. The order is held in the OMS until inventory is replenished, then fulfilled automatically or manually based on your routing rules.

### BOL

**Bill of Lading.** A legal shipping document issued by a carrier that details the type, quantity, and destination of goods being transported. Required for freight and LTL shipments.

### BOM

**Bill of Materials.** A comprehensive list of raw materials, components, and assemblies required to build or manufacture a product. Crucial for Assemble-to-Order (ATO) and kitting workflows.

### Bundle / Kitting

The process of taking multiple individual SKUs and combining them into a single new SKU for sale. OmniOrders automatically breaks down bundles into their component parts for accurate inventory tracking and warehouse picking.

### Carrier

A shipping company (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL) that transports packages from a fulfillment center to the end customer. OmniOrders integrates with multiple carriers for real-time rate shopping, label generation, and tracking.

### Channel

A sales platform where orders originate — such as Shopify, Amazon, eBay, WooCommerce, or a custom B2B storefront. OmniOrders consolidates orders from all channels into a single, unified dashboard.

### COGS

**Cost of Goods Sold.** The direct cost of producing or purchasing the products a business sells. Tracked per SKU in OmniOrders for accurate profitability and margin analysis.

### Cross-docking

A logistics procedure where incoming inventory is unloaded from an inbound truck and loaded directly onto outbound trucks with little or no storage time in between.

### Customer / Customer Groups

Individual buyers or segmented groups of buyers. In OmniOrders, customer groups can be used to apply specific B2B wholesale pricing, tax rules, or custom order routing logic.

### D2C

**Direct to Consumer.** An eCommerce model where brands sell directly to their end customers, bypassing third-party retailers or wholesalers.

### Dropship

A fulfillment method where the seller does not hold inventory. Instead, the supplier or manufacturer ships products directly to the customer on behalf of the seller. OmniOrders automates dropship order routing to vendors.

### EDI

**Electronic Data Interchange.** The automated, computer-to-computer exchange of standard business documents (like POs and invoices) between business partners. Often used in enterprise retail and B2B supply chains.

### ERP

**Enterprise Resource Planning.** A broader business management system that handles accounting, HR, manufacturing, and financials. OmniOrders integrates with ERPs like Xero and QuickBooks for seamless financial synchronization.

### FBA

**Fulfillment by Amazon.** A service where Amazon stores inventory, picks, packs, and ships orders to customers on behalf of the seller. OmniOrders can sync FBA inventory levels and track FBA orders alongside other channels.

### FBM

**Fulfillment by Merchant.** An Amazon sales model where the seller is responsible for storing inventory and shipping orders themselves (often using an OMS like OmniOrders), rather than using Amazon's fulfillment network.

### Feed

A data file or stream used to automatically import or export bulk data — such as inventory levels, product catalogs, or tracking information — between OmniOrders and external systems.

### FIFO

**First-In, First-Out.** An inventory valuation and management method where the oldest stock (first in) is sold and shipped first. Essential for perishable goods and accurate accounting.

### Fulfillment

The complete end-to-end process of receiving an order, picking items from inventory, packing them securely, and shipping to the customer. OmniOrders automates fulfillment routing across multiple locations and 3PLs.

### iLoc (Inventory Location)

A specific bin, shelf, or zone within a warehouse used for precise micro-level inventory tracking. OmniOrders uses iLocs to direct warehouse staff exactly where to pick or put away items.

### Integration / Connection

A secure link between OmniOrders and an external system (such as Shopify, BigCommerce, EDI, or CommerceHub). Integrations allow real-time syncing of orders, inventory, and tracking data.

### Inventory

The total stock of products available for sale. In OmniOrders, inventory is tracked in real-time across all warehouses, retail stores, and fulfillment locations to prevent overselling.

### Inventory Turnover

A financial ratio showing how many times a company has sold and replaced inventory during a given period. High turnover indicates strong sales or efficient inventory management.

### Job / Queue

A background processing task within the OmniOrders system. Jobs handle heavy asynchronous tasks like syncing large inventory feeds, importing bulk orders, or generating extensive reports without slowing down the user interface.

### KPI

**Key Performance Indicator.** A measurable value that indicates how well a business is achieving its objectives. The OmniOrders dashboard displays KPIs like order volume, fulfillment speed, and inventory turnover.

### Lead Time

The time between placing a purchase order (PO) with a supplier and receiving the goods at your warehouse. Used in OmniOrders for intelligent reorder planning and low-stock alerts.

### LIFO

**Last-In, First-Out.** An inventory method where the most recently received items are the first ones sold. Less common in eCommerce than FIFO, but used in specific accounting scenarios.

### Location

A physical or virtual place where inventory is stored — such as a primary warehouse, retail store, dropship vendor, or 3PL facility. OmniOrders supports infinite multi-location inventory management.

### LTL

**Less Than Truckload.** A freight shipping method for shipments that don't fill an entire truck. Shipments are shared with other shippers to reduce costs.

### Multichannel

Selling products on more than one platform (e.g., a Shopify site and an Amazon store). An OMS is critical for multichannel eCommerce to keep inventory synced across all platforms.

### Omnichannel

A fully integrated approach to commerce that provides shoppers a unified experience across online and offline channels (e.g., buying online and picking up in-store - BOPIS).

### OMS

**Order Management System.** Software that centralizes order processing, inventory tracking, and fulfillment routing across multiple sales channels. OmniOrders is a cloud-based OMS designed for modern eCommerce.

### Packaging / Cartonization

The process of selecting the optimal box, mailer, or packaging material for an order. OmniOrders can automate cartonization to minimize dimensional weight and reduce shipping costs.

### Pick List

A document or digital screen that tells warehouse staff which items need to be picked from inventory to fulfill a batch of orders. OmniOrders generates optimized pick lists to improve warehouse efficiency.

### Pick, Pack, Ship

The three-step warehouse fulfillment process: **Pick** items from shelves, **Pack** them securely into boxes, and **Ship** via a carrier. OmniOrders tracks and timestamps each stage for full visibility.

### PO

**Purchase Order.** A formal commercial document sent to a supplier to order products. OmniOrders tracks POs from creation through receiving, cross-docking, and inventory allocation.

### Reorder Point (ROP)

The specific inventory level at which new stock should be ordered to prevent stockouts. OmniOrders calculates ROP based on lead time, safety stock, and historical sales velocity.

### RMA

**Return Merchandise Authorization.** A process where a customer requests permission to return a product. The RMA number is used in OmniOrders to track the return through receiving, inspection, and restocking.

### Rules (Order Routing Rules)

Automated logic configured within OmniOrders that dictates how orders are processed. Rules can automatically assign orders to specific warehouses, hold them for manual review, or flag them based on criteria like destination, weight, or SKU.

### SaaS

**Software as a Service.** A software distribution model where applications are hosted by a vendor and accessed over the internet. OmniOrders is a SaaS platform, meaning no local installation is required.

### Safety Stock

A buffer quantity of inventory kept on hand to protect against stockouts caused by demand spikes or supply chain delays. Configured per SKU or location within OmniOrders.

### SKU

**Stock Keeping Unit.** A unique alphanumeric identifier assigned to each distinct product or variant. The fundamental tracking unit used for inventory management, order processing, and reporting.

### Stockout

When inventory of a specific product is completely depleted, resulting in lost sales or backorders. OmniOrders prevents stockouts with real-time syncing and low-stock alerts.

### Supplier / Vendor

The entity or manufacturer that provides goods to the merchant. OmniOrders manages supplier relationships, lead times, and Purchase Orders (POs) directly within the platform.

### Tenant

The top-level organizational account in OmniOrders. A single tenant can manage multiple users, roles, warehouses, and integrations under one unified billing and configuration structure.

### Transfer

The movement of inventory from one warehouse or location to another. OmniOrders tracks warehouse transfers with full audit trails, transit statuses, and receiving workflows.

### UOM

**Unit of Measure.** The standard unit used to count, receive, or sell a product — such as "each", "case", "pallet", or "kilogram". Configurable per product and vendor in OmniOrders.

### Variant

A specific version of a product that differs by an attribute — such as size, color, or material. Each variant must have its own unique SKU and inventory count.

### Warehouse

A physical facility used to store inventory. In OmniOrders, warehouses are configured as fulfillment locations with their own stock levels, addresses, and custom routing rules.

### WMS

**Warehouse Management System.** Software that manages complex warehouse operations including receiving, putaway, picking, packing, and shipping. OmniOrders includes built-in WMS capabilities tightly integrated with its OMS.
