Transfers help you move inventory between different fulfillment locations. When one location runs low on stock while another has extra, you can create a transfer to rebalance inventory across your warehouse network.

This keeps your products available where customers need them most and helps you fulfill orders faster.

## Why Use Transfers?

**Inventory Transfers let you move stock between your fulfillment locations to balance supply, cut shipping costs, and position inventory where demand is highest. Every transfer is tracked from creation through receiving with full quantity visibility — in transit and received — at each location.**

## How Transfers Work

<SupademoEmbed demoId="cmklbkzg602jk12fiq4l9mox1" />

<Steps>

1. **Select Source Location**

Choose which fulfillment location has the inventory you want to move. This is where the products currently are.

2. **Select Destination Location**

Pick where you want to send the inventory. This location will receive the products.

3. **Add Products**

Select which SKUs to transfer and how many units of each. You can only transfer inventory that's available at the source location.

4. **Create Transfer**

Save the transfer to create it. The inventory status changes to "In Transit" and is removed from the source location's available stock.

5. **Receive Inventory**

When the products arrive at the destination, mark them as received. The inventory becomes available at the new location.

</Steps>

## Transfer Status Tracking

Each transfer shows its current status:

- **In Transit** - Products are moving between locations
- **Partially Received** - Some items arrived, others still in transit
- **Completed** - All items received at destination
- **Cancelled** - Transfer was cancelled before completion

## Understanding Quantities

### Qty In Transit

Products that are:
- On their way to the destination
- Not available for sale yet
- Removed from source location inventory
- Will be added to destination when received

### Qty Received

Products that have:
- Arrived at the destination location
- Been marked as received
- Added to destination's available inventory
- Ready to fulfill orders

## Troubleshooting

### Can't Create a Transfer

**Problem**: The create transfer option isn't working.

**Solutions**:
- Make sure you have at least two fulfillment locations set up
- Check that you have products with available inventory
- Verify your user role has permission to create transfers

### Inventory Not Updating

**Problem**: Created a transfer but inventory counts haven't changed.

**Solutions**:
- Transfers remove inventory from the source immediately upon creation
- Destination inventory updates only when you mark items as received
- Check the transfer status to see if it's still in transit

### Transfer Showing Wrong Quantities

**Problem**: The quantities in your transfer don't match what you expected.

**Solutions**:
- Verify you entered the correct quantities when creating the transfer
- Check if the transfer was partially received (some items arrived, others didn't)
- Look at the transfer details to see the original requested quantities

### Need to Cancel a Transfer

**Problem**: You need to cancel a transfer that's already created.

**Solutions**:
- Contact your system administrator about cancellation options
- If items haven't shipped yet, they may be able to cancel it
- If items are in transit, you may need to transfer them back after arrival
